I did a job interview yesterday for an AIX admin/support position. It seemed to go very well… I nailed the technical side. The tech interviewer was talking low to mid 50’s… They decided to pass, though…

It could have been a good opportunity, but there were things that I was letting slide that I really didn’t feel comfortable about… Like the agreement to binding arbitration. I’m not planning to sue my future employers, but having seen all the shit my dad has gone through, I don’t want to limit my options.

At least I got a nice number out of this… That 50’s range was good. It confirmed my suspicions about what I’m worth. Now I just need to find a company that I want to work for.

Oh, during the tech interview, the guy had me work on a shell script to see how I would tackle the problem. I didn’t get the answer solved there, but I was still thinking about it when I got home, so I wrote the script, tested it, and emailed him a link to it… Check it out, if ya like. Its 110 lines, of which 34 is actual code. 😉

While the script is pretty much worthless, and I doubt I’d actually ever want to use it, I’m pretty happy with it.
