I’m fond of the story about the retired engineer who is asked to come back to his old work to fix a machine that only he knew how to maintain, then bills them thousands of dollars for knowing which screw to tighten.

I just billed half an hour to set a variable in a database. The error message explains which variable to set in order to fix the problem. My time costs more than anyone else at in the department… OK, if they really wanna pay me to do it, I’ll do it.
