Congressman Janklow, the four-time Governor of South Dakota who killed a motorcyclist after running a stop sign at more than 65mph, was convicted of manslaughter today. He could serve up to 10 years, and he has already submitted his resignation from the House effective January 20.

This is a real relief to a lot of cyclists who were afraid that he’d get off. Janklow’s defense was that he had a diabetic reaction and was unable to see the sign, since he hadn’t eaten for 20 hours, and besides he was just avoiding a white car that nobody else saw, and who would run sign at a blind intesection like that more than once (after all he had done it before and almost killed someone)…
