I want to say its strange watching Marion race and get all this media attention, but it isn’t. I’ve been expecting this for years, and I’ve been surprised I hadn’t seen her until now. She just blew away the competition, and some people were amazed, but for me… well I’ve seen her run before. I know she’s fuckin’ fast. I’d be surprised if I didn’t see her out there, meters ahead of the competition.

Watching her, though, has brought back some of my self-doubt… my concerns that I haven’t really accomplished much since high school. I mean, here she is, the world is watching her. She’s married. She’s accomplishing her life goals. But where am I?

Just had a great couple matches of InstaGib vs 5 Masterful bots on Morpheus. InstaGib is good for developing your aim, which I have problems with… I learned to shoot for walls and the floor, so that rocket splash damage does its work. I also usually go against Skilled or Adept bots.

The really great run I had was when I beat the next highest scoring bot by 15 frags out of 25 possible. Pretty badass, if ya ask me. I also had the lowest number of deaths.

I’ve noticed I have trouble with using my mouse… I catch myself aiming more by strafing to put my crosshairs in line with the target, rather than pointing the gun with the mouse. My old Doom habits coming out?

I’m watching women’s synchronized diving… Heh, I had no idea that event existed. Man, the chinese divers are just incredible… They should be getting 10’s if you ask me, but they’re scoring up to two points lower than the russian divers, who aren’t quite as good for synchronization. The chinese are awesome. These judges suck.

I’m watching the russian dive slow-mo, listening to commentators saying how perfect the syncronization was… but the two divers were half a spin off… one was horizontal in the spin while the other was verticle… how synchronized is that?

For those of you who haven’t noticed… look up… See that box below the Journal title? The one labeled “search”? Yeah, that’s new. Pretty cool, eh? You can now search the journal.

A word of advice, don’t search for ‘bleh’… might as well just click next now, its pretty much the same thing.

Personally, I think its neat the way windows will suddenly decide (mid file transfer) that it no longer is going to acknowledge your NIC. Just completely wipe that little fact from memory. Its even better when you reboot and it decides to install the driver for an “unknown device” rather than just using the driver you already installed for it. This is just something that Linux can’t match. There’s nothing unpredictable about the way Linux behaves. If something goes strange, there’s a reason for it. A logical deductive explanation; if a then b. Windows makes people think outside the box (hidden reference: black box vs white box). Windows keeps people on their toes! This is why windows is so popular… Besides, its hard to claim you aren’t working because of a computer failure when your computer doesn’t fail…

Oh yeah, so kai and I did hook up for a game of starcraft… We played our usual game, Big Game Hunter’s map. She played terran, I played Protoss, and we hooked up against a zerg computer controlled opponent. I set up some cannons to support her own defenses, and basically just kept the zerg off our back until she was ready to move in and wreak havok. (Yeah, I could have wiped them off the map with just 6 scouts, but what fun would that have been for her?)

“je ne sais quoi” this is my peeve of the morning. So and so has this certain… je ne sais quoi. Does anyone have a clue what they’re saying? It just sounds neat, right? Makes you sound elite and educated… But do you know what it means? “I don’t know what.” That’s what it means! I don’t know! Bah, people are stupid…

So I just got back from getting the oil changed on Descartes (My car… I don’t normally call it that, but it felt appropriate), and it’s kinda neat… everyone at the dealer knows me. A mechanic pulls my car around and just hands me the keys. I walk up to the cashier window, don’t say a word, and she tells me what I owe her (less than I thought, but it was the right bill). Very cool. Of course some of them call me Bryan, but oh well… That’s my dad’s name, btw… But for some reason people call me Bryan even if they don’t know my dad… I have some sort of Bryan aura or something.

Just got back from BlockBuster and Vons. The chick at Blockbuster? Yeah, she wanted me… I got High Fidelity and 28 Days, btw. Ran off to Vons to get more OJ and DiGiorno… Picked buffy up some new toys. We get her these little stuffed animals that talk when you squeeze ’em, her trainer suggested them… So, I was grabbing one and I spotted they had a spotted owl one… I figure it’ll be neat to have buffy gnawing on an endangered species. ;D

The checkout girl at Vons? Yeah, she wanted me too…

Donuts at 2… yummmmm.
