There was just something wrong with my flashlight this morning at about 7am. It just wouldn’t ring right. It kept cycling through all the lines, ringing once, then moving on to the next line. I couldn’t answer the damn thing!

For some reason, my mom just didn’t get what I was saying to her… I was trying to tell her that it was broken, but she looked at me like I was crazy… Bah!

(By the way, this one wasn’t a dream… Just extreme tiredness)

I was up all last night, having quaked with James and Space. I was a GOD. We were playing Square4 for some ramp room fun and battles without the threat of ending up in the water like on 2fort5r. No matter what they threw at me, they just couldn’t bring me down in the ramp room… Of course, out in the open was a different matter.

James was getting a bit better, but he still isn’t a threat. He’s playing pyro now, my old primary class… I’ll have to show him some tricks…

Just read an interview with Paul Vixie and David Conrad on BIND v9.x… it was somewhat amusing… The question that really did it for me was when they asked whether security was an important consideration in the rewrite (BIND v9 was a complete rewrite of BIND). Vixie said no but that security came from stability (which is true), Conrad said that yes it was an important consideration… Figures that Vixie would say that… he’s only been responsible for some of the most famous exploits in history… Good ol’ vixie crontab, y’all remember that? That’s the only exploit that’s been sucessfully run against me.

It was back about two years ago, when I gave a friend (more recently known as gated) an account on my linux box to help me learn/secure it. I was pondering how to give him access to what he needed, when he told me not to worry about it… I ran ‘who’ and sure enough, guess who was root. 😉

So what have I been doing? Well, I tried feeding e/irwin, but he wasn’t hungry so I took the mouse back. I read some security stuff, listened to a panel discussion on full disclosure, watched a small amount of tv, continued my strange taco cravings (which I haven’t mentioned but isn’t very exciting), didn’t draw another comic, and eventually I went to an unsucessful meeting about TOS with james, and hit the grocery store where I bought food I thought would combine with food I already had to make a complete meal… however I didn’t take into account that we didn’t have any syrup for my waffles, and I’ve spent too much time with the ex to eat that smoked ham I bought accidentally (thought it was smoked turkey, I zoned)… its not kosher, damnit.

At least I got coke.

Fido told me the other day that I shouldn’t use color in my comics cause they take too long to load… so I checked the file size and its the same as all the others… ‘course I haven’t really had a pure black and white comic… they’ve all had blue and red lines from the paper I draw on… I do want to look into shrinking file sizes, though… and reducing the palatte is probably the best way.

I quaked last night across the lan with space and james… We’re teaching james TF. Started him out as hwguy so he wouldn’t have to slow down when he changed to a different class. Moved him to soldier for a while, then pyro… He likes being zippy.

I was pulling off some trick stuff against those two. Space was giving me a run for the money, though. He was real tough as demoman last night, and he played medic for a little while too (didn’t pound me quite as badly that way)…

It’d basically go like this… I’d get charged by both of them, I’d maybe toss a rocket or a gren at james to distract him while I went after space (who was my real concern), hopefully whack space, then clean up what was left of james…

My favorite skirmish was in the entryway of 2fort5r… I was battling them both, and I’d tossed hit them both with a couple rockets. I went into reload and if I didn’t finish them I was dead, but I was priming a gren… I hoped, I waited, and just as they draw close enough to each other, I tossed the gren and splattered them both.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Oh, I think james did pretty well, by the way… He has a few things to work on, but its stuff *everyone* has trouble with… moving around enough while fighting, and watching out for grens…

“Hi, I’m calling about your resume on monster.com…” Uh huh… did you READ it?

I suppose someone might put down that their objective is a career in linux system administration but really want to become an insurance agent… I, however, am not that person.
