Just got back from BlockBuster and Vons. The chick at Blockbuster? Yeah, she wanted me… I got High Fidelity and 28 Days, btw. Ran off to Vons to get more OJ and DiGiorno… Picked buffy up some new toys. We get her these little stuffed animals that talk when you squeeze ’em, her trainer suggested them… So, I was grabbing one and I spotted they had a spotted owl one… I figure it’ll be neat to have buffy gnawing on an endangered species. ;D

The checkout girl at Vons? Yeah, she wanted me too…

Donuts at 2… yummmmm.

When did I become the protector of all moth-kind…?

A couple years ago, we started getting a few moths coming in the back door. I caught them, and carried them outside to set them free. Since then I’ve been swamped with the little guys. Its especially bad since I’ve been leaving the screen off my window.

This afternoon was really sad… a moth was in the kitchen… He was flying around completely lost, so I tried to catch the little dude. Unfortunately in his flight he smacked into the ceiling fan… It knocked him silly, but he looked all right. I carried him outside and let him go. Poor dude.

Its been a rough day on animals.

After bathing E/Irwin, gobbing on some neosporin and sticking him in an empty critter carrier on top of my tv, which would serve nicely as a heating pad, I covered him up with a towel and wandered off with James to see “Almost Famous”, Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical flick about his days writing for Rolling Stone. It is absolutely a must see flick. For those who don’t know, his other big movies are Jerry McGuire and Say Anything. All must see’s.

So, I got back home to find E/Irwin’s carrier upside down on the floor, blocking the door to my room. The fall is over four feet, so as you can imagine I was freaked. He’s totally mobile, and didn’t seem at all sensitive. His bites are invisible to my eye, but I gobbed on some more neosporin in what I figure is approximately the right spots. E/Irwin refused to let go of my hand as I tried to put him back in the carrier, so he’s back home in his terrarium with his nice fresh sand, bowl of water, two hiding huts, toy ladder and heat lamp… I hope he recovers quickly, he had way too stressful a day, and I can’t help but think that its at least partially my fault. Kai says it happens, not to worry, but I am my mother’s son… I worry.

OK, been a bit frantic since the last post. I ran out and returned the mouse. Picked up an antibacterial powder and some new repti-sand. Hosed out e/irwin’s tank and gave him fresh water. Talked to Kai and am going to be bathing e/irwin and putting him in an empty carrier overnight with some neosporin on the wounds. Have a bath cooling for him right now. sigh

On the plus side, the wounds are hard to see now… I figure that’s a good sign. They seem to be healing, so there shouldn’t be much of a bacterial problem. I’m going to watch out just in case and make sure to keep him swathed in antibacterial goop.

E/Irwin got bit! Fuckin’ mouse… Man, I feel bad. They don’t look bad, just little red nips. He’s not bleeding, but I’m worried. Shit, that sucks. I’m tempted to feed the mouse to Nike, so it gets some payback.

I hope E/Irwin’s cage is clean enough that he doesn’t get an infection. Then I’d just feel awful.
