Hooray for Time Machine!

My iMac’s hard disk died a slow painful death… Slow as in, it got really really really fucking slow and then died. Replaced free under applecare, but what about my data?

Well, Time Machine had been chugging along, regularly backing up to an extarnal disk… Boot up under leopard for the first time and as it comes up “Would you like to restore from time machine?” Why yes, yes I would… Couple hours later, my machine is up and nearly perfect. Turns out I had excluded one directory deliberately, which made sense but is a bit annoying… And I had to repair permissions. Otherwise, all looks great. Highly recommended.

I need to get my parents on a mac.

Question for my loyal fans…

Are flowers a good way to say “Zomg, don’t leave! We won’t survive without you! PS, I love you!” to a project manager who just gave 2 weeks notice?

Well, itd probably say more like “Good luck and don’t forget about us. -AppOps”.

Also, does anyone know of a pirate themed flower arrangement I can have delivered?

Just set off my car alarm for my neighbors while trying to move the car in the driveway before the sprinklers hit it… I fucking hate how easy it is to hit the panic button on this thing. I want it dead. I have never used a panic button and doubt I ever would. How useless is it when I set it off all the time (at least four times since I’ve own the car, two since I moved into the house). I found an edmunds road test blog post about the same issue, but no tips on turning it off for this particular remote. I may take the remote apart later and see if I can disable it somehow, but I figure I’ll wait until the neighbors are all back asleep so I can accidentally trigger it again.
